Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's regular hours return September 7

    August 25, 2010

Beginning September 7, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The new schedule may mean summer is fading, but it's not too late to check out the season's biggest hits, DINOSAURS!, FLUTTER! and The Scoop on Poop, open through September 12.

Other seasonal changes involve the camel rides in Australian Adventure, which end Labor Day, September 6, and Professor Wylde's Live Animal Show which moves to weekends only after the holiday.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, free Zoo admission for residents of Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township will be offered on Tuesday, September 7.

More than 286,000 Zoo guests have visited with the 18 prehistoric beasts in DINOSAURS!, along the shores of Waterfowl Lake. The animatronic creature exhibit is $1 per person in addition to regular Zoo admission, and free for members and children younger than 2.

Visitors have swarmed like flies to "The Scoop on Poop," a one-of-a-kind exhibit that examines excrement with science and humor. Based on a popular book by Dr. Wayne Lynch, the Zoo's No. 2 exhibit is supported locally by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, and is free with regular Zoo admission.

Hundreds of tropical butterflies from South America, Africa and Asia fly freely through FLUTTER!, located in the Zoo's Public Greenhouse.

The change in season means it's also time to start planning your costume for Boo at the Zoo! Tickets are on sale now for the annual sell-out event, scheduled this year for Oct. 21-24 and 28-31. Tickets are available at the Zoo box office or online at clemetzoo.com. Save money by getting your tickets early! Tickets are $6 in August, $7 in September and $8 in October. Zoo members receive a $1 discount and children younger than 2 are free.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Regular admission is $10 per person, $7 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for members and children younger than 2.
