            Become a French Canadian Voyageur this July with Cleveland Metroparks Voyageur Canoe Paddles.

            Paddle a 34-foot canoe and relive the days of the Fur Traders era on Hinckley Lake or on Wallace Lake at the following programs.

Saturday, July 10 & Sunday, July 11 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., -OR- 3:30 p.m.    

Hinckley Lake Boathouse • Hinckley Reservation

Join Cleveland Metroparks French Canadian Voyageurs and set out on Hinckley Lake in a 34-foot canoe for an hour-long paddle of educational fun.  Hinckley Lake is located between West Drive and East Drive in Hinckley Reservation, south of Bellus Road in Hinckley Township.

Wallace Lake Mill Stream Run Reservation

Join Cleveland Metroparks French Canadian Voyageurs and set out on Wallace Lake in a 34-foot canoe for an hour-long paddle of educational fun.  Wallace Lake is located off Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, south of Bagley Road in Berea. 

 

This living history program gives everyone a chance to paddle, sing and hear the many tales and adventures of these fur traders of long ago. The canoe is a fiberglass replica of the original Voyageur canoes, which were used to travel the Great Lakes from Montreal to Lake Superior and the eastern shores of Minnesota in the 18th and 19th centuries. The canoe can hold up to 18 people. Life jackets, educational fun and a safe environment are provided.

Voyageur Canoe Paddles continue through October. In addition, on Saturday, October 2, there will be a Voyageur Canoe Encampment at CanalWay Center.

            Registration and a $5 fee per person are required.
